Young Enterprise Scotland
Company Programme Elective (YES)
This truly is a wonderful programme which is offered to S6 students. The YES Company Programme runs for one academic year and gives them the opportunity to run their own business and develop the knowledge and attitude they need to succeed.
Throughout this experience they will develop 8 key skills:
communication, confidence, financial capability, initiative, organisation, problem-solving, teamwork and resilience.
It also provides students with an opportunity to develop their employability skills which are highly valuable to employers and further learning providers.
Throughout this programme the students are supported by a local business advisor and a link teacher who will guide them through this journey. They will draw up a business plan, apply for a variety of job roles, create products and services, raise share capital, hold regular meetings and sell their trade at fairs, schools and other events. At the end of this process the business will submit a business report and attend the Young Enterprise Scotland Ayrshire Finals where they will pitch their business to a panel of judges who will also interview them. If they win they will then compete at the Scottish finals which we have successfully attended in 2017 and in 2018.
The Young Enterprise Scotland (YES) flagship Company Programme has taken a major step forward with news that all young entrepreneurs enrolled during 2019/20 will have the opportunity to gain a qualification at the same SCQF level as a Higher.
