We are right bang in the middle week of our summer break. Our senior pupils thoughts may be drifting towards the results day on 7th August and we will be thinking of them all as they open that text message/letter. I'm sure our junior pupils are enjoying the long hot days of this fantastic summer, perhaps reading a book during the days on the beach?
Please click on the image below to view our Marr Matters newsletter that was issued during the final week of term and includes a farewell letter from Mrs E McGregor-Sloman, who retired at the end of June. Letters have been issued to pupils who have met the criteria, staff are advertising their activities, pupil choices can now be made!! Application Forms are now available for Clothing Grants, Free School Meals and Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) from the school office. They are also available in County Buildings, local Customer Service Centres, local libraries and are also available to download from the Council website at http://www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/schools/meals/free-school-meals.aspx
https://www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/schools/maintenance-allowance.aspx Purchasing PE kit for Session 2018-19 At Marr College we have a formal PE kit that we expect all students to wear. This will consist of a Marr College PE top and black shorts or sports leggings. We believe that if all students are wearing the same kit this will give them a greater sense of identification to Marr College, inspire a feeling of togetherness and create a more professional learning environment. This year orders will be made via an online shop on our suppliers website. Please click on the image below to view the shop. On this page you will be able to order your child's PE top and other items of kit. Prices, specifications and sizes are listed for each item. Orders placed up to midnight on 29th July 2018 that have the discount code 'MARR' applied will be delivered to the school for the start of the new term on 20th August 2018. Any orders placed after the cut-off date or with no discount code applied will be charged shipping and delivered to a home or business address.
Please contact the school office in the first instance if you have any queries. Reviewing our inclusive practice across the curriculum will have a positive impact on outcomes for all of our young people. This session we embarked on our journey towards achieving accreditation at Bronze Level as a Dyslexia Friendly School. A staff working group has been identified and will meet this month to discuss how we take things forward at Marr. This will include creation of an action plan, formation of pupil/parent groups and an updated Dyslexia policy. With this in mind we are looking for interested parents to form our parent working group or to provide your name for a list of ‘Dyslexic Role Models’. Please make contact via mail.marr@south-ayrshire.gov.uk for attention of Ms. Elliot.
Please find the Easter School Schedule below. This has been handed to every pupil in S4-6. Can parents/carers please discuss the support available with the young people in your care. As per the letter can pupils please speak to the named teacher and book their place so that arrangements can be made for an accurate number of pupils in school.
