Primary 7 Transition
Transition from Primary to Secondary
We appreciate that moving from primary to secondary school is a big step for both pupils and families. Here at Marr College we are committed to making this transition as smooth, supportive, and at the same time as exciting and enjoyable as possible.
Our dedicated transition programme helps our Primary 7 into S1 pupils feel confident and prepared for the next stage in their learning journey.
Through school visits, induction days, and close communication with our partner primary schools, we ensure every young person has the opportunity to get to know our staff, explore the school environment, and begin building friendships before starting in S1.
We look forward to welcoming our new S1 students and working together to help them thrive and grow in a caring, inclusive, and inspiring learning community.

Supporting Mental Health & Wellbeing During Transition
The move from primary to secondary school is an exciting time, but we also understand it can bring new emotions, questions, and challenges. At Marr College, we place a strong emphasis on mental health and wellbeing, especially during the transition from Primary 7 to S1.
We work closely with our partner primary schools, families, and support staff to ensure every young person feels safe, supported, and listened to. Our transition programme includes wellbeing check-ins, opportunities to meet key staff such as guidance teachers and support for learning teams, and activities that help pupils build confidence and resilience.
We are committed to creating a nurturing environment where every pupil knows they belong and feels ready to take their next steps with confidence.
Here are some videos which we hope you will find reassuring as you make this next step in your learning journey. These videos were created and produced by former Marr College pupils and contain their real-life thoughts, observations and experiences.
