Welcome to the Art Department
S1 classes work on a clay pot design project, inspired by famous architects. We learn about the properties of clay and how to make a unique clay pot that can be used to grow plants either inside or outside. We also learn about the Kiln and how to fire our clay pots to ensure they are durable.
S1 &S2 Art Club
Miss Cairns’ Art Club is on Wednesdays at lunchtime- feel free to bring your lunch to the club!
The club have worked hard over the past year on school disco decorations, props for the school show production and experimented with abstract art, drawing skills and much more!
We have made Burns Day badges using old garments (plain or tartan) and recycled materials.
S3 classes have been working on portraiture skills, producing a number of portraits using paint, coloured pencil, watercolour and poly prints. We have looked at a number of artists and art movements for example, Seurat’s pointillism and Picasso’s Blue Period.
S3 Clay and Ceramics
Miss Cairns’ class have been working on clay tiles inspired by the artist Shayna Leib. Each pupil chose shapes, patterns and textures from their favourite animal and experimented with different clay techniques to produce a tile based on the animal. Our aim is to put all of the tiles together to make a collective piece of artwork.
Dementia Friendly Troon and Villages
The winning entry for the Logo Competition was designed by Marr pupil Jodi Hainey! Her wonderful dandelion image was chosen by the judges to appear in shops, cafes and restaurants in Troon and surrounding villages. We worked with MP’s to create a logo that would be recognised and appreciated in the area. The members of the committee loved the finished design and arrangements are being made for Jodi to be presented with a prize for her design.
