Welcome to the Music department of Marr College.
Music is an exciting and ever evolving subject. We provide challenge, breadth and depth of learning across all years groups with enriching learning experiences for all. The staff in the department are passionate about teaching, have a wealth of knowledge and are highly skilled musicians. We aim to enhance the musicianship pupils already have and discover the potential they have yet had the opportunity to explore.

Ayrshire Music Festival 2018

Congratulations to S Wight, won the Grade 5 Woodwind group, F McKee, who won the Grade 4 Brass class. S Woods, came 2nd in Grade 3 Brass class and G Davidson played well in the Grade 2 group coming 2nd.
Junior Choir was placed 2nd in the S1-3 Schools Choir group. They sang ‘Knock On Wood’ by Eddie Floyd, and ‘Diamonds’ by Rhianna receiving high praise and good feedback on their performance. The choir are looking forward to returning next year!
On Saturday 17th the Ceilidh Band came 2nd in the Scottish Ensemble group. We are very excited to see how this band progresses and develops- keep up the good work!

Royal Regiment of Scotland Wind Band
The Music Department would like to say a big thank you to the Royal Regiment of Scotland Wind Band for presenting future opportunities and performing alongside our Brass and Woodwind musicians.
All the pupils rehearsed three pieces that they had never seen before the session and performed to a very enthusiastic audience. Well done everyone involved for a very successful day!
