History & Modern Studies
Welcome to the History and Modern Studies Department!
History and Modern Studies are fascinating subjects to learn.
Through our understanding of the past in History; and our understanding of the present in Modern Studies; we are better prepared for the present and the future.
We aim to provide all our students with rich and varied experiences in History and Modern Studies that enhance our understanding of the world. We work together to ensure that every student has an equal opportunity to achieve their best and attain their highest.
Who are we?
We have 5 full-time members of the Department – and we are all passionate about our two subjects:
What courses do we offer?
In S1 and S2, all students will visit the department for two periods per week: we spend half the year on the History topics; and half on the Modern Studies topics.
In S3 every student will have the opportunity to choose up to 3 Social Studies subjects. Each S3 student has 3 periods per week of their Social Studies classes. We have ensured that our S3 courses provide a solid foundation for further study in S4 by establishing the required skills and knowledge for successful progression to National courses and beyond.
