RMPS (Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies) National 4/5 Unit 1 - World Religions : Buddhism Unit 2 - Religious and Philosophical Questions : The Problem of Evil and Suffering Unit 3 - Morality and Belief : Religion and Justice National 4 Added Value Unit National 5 Assignment : Written under timed exam conditions. It is worth 25% of the final mark. Final examination in May. National 5/H Unit 1 - World Religions : Buddhism Unit 2 - Religious and Philosophical Questions : The Existence of God Unit 3 – Morality and Belief : Religion and Conflict National 5 Assignment : Written under timed exam conditions. It is worth 25% of the final mark. Higher Assignment : Written under timed exam conditions. It is worth 33% of the final mark. Philosophy Due to the nature and literacy component of the course, Philosophy is only suitable for those pupils who have achieved a minimum National 5 pass in English. National 5/H Unit 1 – Arguments in Action (logic, structure of arguments, fallacies) Unit 2 – Knowledge and Doubt (looking at the works of two classical philosophers, Rene Descartes and David Hume) Unit 3 – Moral Philosophy (two moral theories, Utilitarianism and Kantianism) National 5 Assignment : Due in January. It is worth 30% of the final marks. Higher Assignment : Due in January. It is worth 33% of the final marks. |
