Why study biology?
There’s no such thing as a typical job in biology – pursuing your interest in biology can take you in almost any direction you can think of, and to almost anywhere in the world. From working in medicine, education, broadcasting or accountancy, we think that biological science is one of the broadest and most important subjects in the world today. By learning about the world and how it works, biologists have helped to solve some of the biggest challenges faced by the planet!
What will you study?
From the smallest cell right through to the largest multicellular organism, biology is the study of living things and we think it's amazing!
Students will get the opportunity to learn about many aspects of the subject allowing them to get a flavour of some of the different branches of the science. Each level of biology (N5, Higher, Higher Human and Advanced Higher) will spend some time focusing on cells and the processes they carry out. The courses will then move on to look at different aspects such as animals and the environment or how the human body works and diseases that may affect it. All of our courses have been designed to enhance the learners practical skills and will see learners carry out experiments to test and prove some of the theory that they learn.
