The National 4 Drama Course enables learners to develop production skills and skills in presenting drama, and to use their skills in a drama performance. Learners also explore form, genre, structure and style of drama. The SQA assessment is internal. |

National 5 Drama
The National 5 Drama Course enables learners to develop a range of production skills and skills in presenting drama. Learners also explore form, genre, structure and style of drama.
The course encourages candidates to exercise imagination and creativity, developing important skills, attitudes and attributes, including critical thinking.
There is a focus on creativity and adaptability, working independently and as part of a group, with both enthusiasm and confidence.
Learning through Drama also helps learners appreciate cultural values, identities and ideas.
The SQA assessment is: 60% practical performance and 40% final written paper.

Higher Drama
The course is suitable for candidates with an aptitude for drama or for those wishing to progress to further levels of study.
It allows candidates to further extend their drama skills developed through the National 5 Drama course.
For sixth years who would like to “crash” the subject, an A or B pass in Higher English is desirable.
Higher Drama encourages candidates to exercise their imagination and creativity.
The SQA assessment is: 60% practical performance and 40% final written paper.
