Languages for Life & Work Level 6 (French or Spanish)
Our new Languages for Life and Work course at Level 6 is the perfect opportunity to showcase a new side of yourself and boost your college, university or job applications.
Studying a language can help you stand out from others, as you have excellent communication creativity, adaptability and cultural awareness. This course not only allows you to develop your knowledge of either French or Spanish, but also builds valuable skills that are sought after by universities and employers in sectors ranging from business, law, banking, education, hospitality, engineering and finance.
What will I learn?
The course is divided into 3 units:
Is there an exam?
There is no final exam in this course and you will work towards your Level 6 qualification in either French or Spanish.
Do I have to have studied National 5 or Higher?
You do not have to have studied languages at National 5 or Higher, and we would welcome all pupils from beginners to advanced.
This is an option for S6 pupils wishing to pick up a language again, or pupils who have achieved a C grade at National 5.
Do I have to do both languages?
No, you will get your qualification in French or Spanish. It is recommended that you choose the language that you have studied earlier in school, however this can be discussed with your teacher if you are keen to try something new!

- Languages for Life – developing your Reading & Listening skills across a range of topics, including gap years, travelling and future plans.
- Languages for Work – developing your Writing & Talking skills to apply for a job.
- Leadership – planning a school event to celebrate European Day of Languages.
