Photography covers many facets of society including reportage, landscape, people, sports, wildlife fashion and marketing etc. It develops your creativity and provides you with the opportunity to reflect upon and interpret the world around you.
Higher Photography S6 Option
The Higher Photography Course enables learners to communicate personal thoughts, feelings and ideas using photography. It will develop technical and creative skills using photographic media, techniques and processes. The course examines how photography can be used as a powerful artistic tool of communication as learners are prepared to both produce and evaluate photographic images. The course embraces an integrated approach to learning, combining practical learning activities underpinned by technical knowledge and understanding of photography.
Photography Project
The photography project assesses your ability to integrate and apply your creative and technical skills and your knowledge and understanding of photographic practice. You will plan and carry out a selected photography project, researching and investigating your chosen topic. Drawing on this material you will develop your own creative response by carrying out practical photographic work. From this you will select a series of 12 final images to communicate your chosen topic.

Question Paper
The question paper assesses your knowledge and understanding of photographic work and practice. You must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the properties of light and image formation, camera controls and image making techniques and their effects. You will also be asked to analyse examples of photography.
