NPA Musical Theatre
The National Progression Award in Musical Theatre (SCQF level 6) gives learners’ the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the practice of Musical Theatre. It is an exciting course which develops a range of transferable skills including rehearsing, presenting, self- evaluation and the ability to work independently and in group.
There are three units in the Musical Theatre NPA:
Do you have a passion for Musical Theatre, Drama, Dance or Music? Well if you do then the NPA in Musical Theatre is the subject for you!
The NPA in Musical Theatre lets you explore your creative side through singing, dance and drama. It also helps develop skills which you can use later in life, especially in jobs such as performing (Musical Theatre, Drama, Dance or Music), Performing Arts Management, or even Teaching.
The Aims of this subject are to develop your skills as a solo performer as well as developing your group performing skills. It also aims to help you with audition preparation, through setting up a programme best suited to you and creating a rehearsal schedule to ensure you are ready for future auditions. The NPA will also teach you how to effectively evaluate your own and others performances, to help you develop not only your performance but your own knowledge of Musical Theatre.
The NPA is a great alternative route into Performing Arts, as this can help you progress into HNC/HNDs and even onto a degree in Performing Arts. So, if you are ready to live your High School Musical dream, then be sure to choose the NPA in Musical Theatre as one of your Subjects for S4.
