NPA Furniture Making – SCQF Level 5
Furniture Making is aimed at pupils wanting to develop their practical abilities in a workshop environment and for pupils who want to explore their interest in Furniture Making. For entry to the qualification, pupils must have some prior knowledge in either a practical subject such as woodwork/ metalwork or some experience in Graphic Communication to help with reading working drawings.
The 3 practical projects that pupils complete are:
Pupils has the opportunity to attend Dumfries House for 3 days to complete the upholstery unit and gain experience with a sewing machine and practice some hand sewing. Pupils completed a cushion for the foot stool unit.
