Marr Student Voice
As Bill Maher once said “We need more people speaking out. This country is not overrun with rebels and free thinkers. It's overrun with sheep and conformists.” Hence, we really need every student to understand the importance of their opinions, and how they can make a difference just by making their voice heard!
The Student Council at Marr College is rapidly gaining interest as many pupils from each year group are discovering how to make a change. The School Captains are meeting weekly with the students to discuss a variety of issues from fund raising for the school, ideas for charity events and improvements to school equipment.
The most current topic of concern has been bullying and how it is dealt within the school. Many have said that staff members are often scary to approach with a problem and so the idea of an “anti-bully mentor” and a text/email system is being developed along with the campus cop, PC Simpson.
Information about the student council will be spreads by information on the plasma screens and notice boards in the school as well as newsletters.
