School Librarians Blog
As part of our World Book Day celebrations the library became a photo booth over lunchtime. There were an abundance of props ranging from super hero masks to witches broomsticks and as you can see from the gallery below the pupils had great fun recreating known characters and creating their own, such as SuperOwl! World Book Day is fast approaching. It is this Thursday 2nd March. Lets do somethign booky!
This year you will have the chance to take part in our Great Book Themed Photo Booth Experience. Come along to the library at lunchtime on Thursday with some props and you could be the next Katniss or Matilda. Full details are on display in the school and the gallery of images will be posted on this blog. REMEMBER: The prize draw for our Blind Date with a book will take place on Thursday at 1pm. Please ensure you hand in your cupid's card, with your name on the back, before lunch on Thursday. If you follow the school on twitter @MarrColOfficial you will be in for a delight on Thursday as we post three seperate stories all as tweets. To highlight LGBT History month, we have a display in the library of books that are either written by an LGBT author or contain LGBT themes or characters.
Looking for a date this February? Why not take a chance on a blind date with a book? Choose a book based on the clue written on the front cover and get it checked out. Once you've read it, return the book and hand in your 'Cupid's Card' to Miss Owens and you will be entered into a prize draw to win some lovely goodies. The draw will take place at the end of February.
To help all our S2 pupils complete their Reading Challenge, I have compiled a recommended reading list. All books are held in our school library and are available to place a hold on for collection after the Christmas break. The list can be downloaded here and contains a variety of text styles and authors. I am confident there will be something for everyone. Happy Reading.

The Library.
the library can be found in the heart of the school, just behind the main dining area. We have books galore in every genre, style and size, perfect for the avid reader and those who are a bit more reluctant to pick up a book.
We also have an ICT suite with 20 pcs. The LibrarianThe School Library is staffed by a chartered librarian, Miss Catherine Owens and a part-time library assistant Mrs Debbie McPhail. The Catalogue.
The catalogue offers staff and pupils access to stock held across the whole of South Ayrshire, which they can borrow and return here at Marr College. To further enhance the library experience we have an app that can be downloaded for apple and android devices, where eBooks and audio books can be easily borrowed.
