On completion of a trampoline block in PE, 29 S4/5 girls made a trip to the trampoline centre at Air Space, East Kilbride. The centre is a fabulous facility where the girls were able to practice their skills and learn new ones supported by the enthusiastic and talented centre staff.
Everyone left feeling elated and exhausted and were rewarded with a stop at McDonalds on the way home. “A great trip for students of all abilities, with a huge variety of activities on offer in the centre. The perfect way to complete our trampoline block” Mrs Maxwell, teacher. British Airways Language Flag AwardWe are one of the few schools in Scotland who take part in the British Airways Language Flag Award. The test "promotes confidence in speaking and links languages at school with the world of work". Fifteen of our S3 students achieved the award in German and four S6 students achieved it in French. Well done to them all.
All students got a certificate and badge from British Airways as proof of their Award. Senior pupils from Marr College have completed the Scottish FA Level 1.1 Early Touches course. This six-hour course is aimed at working with Primary children aged 5-12. In addition to delivering new content, the course assisted the pupils to develop their coaching technique, focus on skill development and explored the best age specific activities for developing young players. These pupils have shown the enthusiasm and desire to complete this National course and develop all the necessary skills that will enable them to facilitate further football opportunities for the cluster primary schools. The pupils will now take a lead role in the delivery of upcoming transitional events involving the primary schools. It will also allow the pupils to coach at a local grassroots club in the local community. The pupils will now work towards completing the 12 hour level 1.2 course.
S5 pupils involved were Ceri, Beth, Kate, Madeline, Claire and Phillipa. S6 girls involved were Keira, Sophie, Chloe, Lucy, Evan and Lucy |
