The latest of our DofE excursions set off this morning. S5 pupils left school to travel to Muirkirk and Wanlockhead for their silver qualifying expedition. We hope that the rain stays away from the duration of their trip.
Three Marr College Pupils who, as part of a team of four, have successfully qualified for the British Dressage Team Quest Championships. The team, called 'The Cookie Monsters' will travel to Buckinghamshire for this event at the end of October.
Pupils involved are William Stewart, Hannah Ullrich and Morven Easton from Marr College, along with Lauren Gilmour from Grange Academy. They have been working extremely hard with their ponies all year in the hope that they would qualify. On 11th September their dreams came true when they won the Regional Final Team Quest dressage competition. Their scores on the day were their highest yet which has boosted their confidence hugely.
These young people are dedicated to their sport and benefit hugely from being part of a team. Their camaraderie is wonderful and each competition gives them the opportunity to improve on their previous scores and support each other. Since qualifying they have been working hard to raise funds to help towards the cost of the journey down south. This has also been a great learning experience for them all as they continue to work as a team and have some understanding of the costs involved.
We would like to wish all member of team Cookie Monster the best for this National Championship and can't wait to hear about their adventure when they return.
