The latest of our DofE excursions set off this morning. S5 pupils left school to travel to Muirkirk and Wanlockhead for their silver qualifying expedition. We hope that the rain stays away from the duration of their trip.
Three Marr College Pupils who, as part of a team of four, have successfully qualified for the British Dressage Team Quest Championships. The team, called 'The Cookie Monsters' will travel to Buckinghamshire for this event at the end of October.
Pupils involved are William Stewart, Hannah Ullrich and Morven Easton from Marr College, along with Lauren Gilmour from Grange Academy. They have been working extremely hard with their ponies all year in the hope that they would qualify. On 11th September their dreams came true when they won the Regional Final Team Quest dressage competition. Their scores on the day were their highest yet which has boosted their confidence hugely. These young people are dedicated to their sport and benefit hugely from being part of a team. Their camaraderie is wonderful and each competition gives them the opportunity to improve on their previous scores and support each other. Since qualifying they have been working hard to raise funds to help towards the cost of the journey down south. This has also been a great learning experience for them all as they continue to work as a team and have some understanding of the costs involved. We would like to wish all member of team Cookie Monster the best for this National Championship and can't wait to hear about their adventure when they return. Information and images provided by H Stewart, parent. We had two teams competing in a regional Handball tournament on the 6th October at the Citadel in Ayr. Both teams were victorious and won every game to qualify for the National finals later in the year. Well done to all the players
Both our senior and junior football teams were playing this week. S1 boys travelled to Cumnock and won 6-3. Goals from Kieran Black, Ross Higgins, Blake McDowall, Dylan McDougall. Our senior B team did not dissapoint either with a very comfortbale win against Auchenharive at home. The final score was 5-2. Congratulations to all.
On Monday 3rd October we had some good success at the South Ayrshire Volleyball Tournament hosted by Kyle Academy.
Marr had 3 teams entered who all played brilliant on the day and represented the school very well. Marr A went on to win the tournament. Congratulations to the team. This years sponsored walk will take place on Friday 7th October, after lunch. Full details for pupils are below. Pupils should bring sponsor forms and money with them on Friday and hand them in to the appropriate house desk at the playing fields.
