Pupils will be given the opportunity to help shape their learning by choosing two electives to further enhance their curriculum for S2. These will work on a rotational basis so each elective is studied for half an academic year giving more choice and enjoyment for our young people. A dedicated page has been created to provide a description of the electives on offer. Click here to view page. Alternatively, a .pdf version can be downloaded by clicking here. Please look at the options and reply to the ‘Groupcall’ message that will be sent to your phone with the title your child’s two choices. Please do this by the end of April. It is still very much business as usual at SAAS. The Online Application service is now open and their General Enquiry Unit are dealing with email and voicemail correspondence on a daily basis. Pupils can get in touch via the ‘Contact Us’ option in their online account if they have any specific queries.
The Funding Awareness Team were scheduled to attend many schools across the country in the coming months which obviously cannot now go ahead so they are currently working on a toolkit of support available and scheduling online sessions on our Social Media channels which will be shared in the coming weeks. If any pupil is unsure of applications or have any queries please check out SAAS Application Help video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJ3hUrcjpGY This may be useful to view before completing your application for support. Remember SAAS also have a Youtube channel where they post many videos all to support the application process. Go check them out. - https://www.youtube.com/user/fundingawareness Your guidance teacher is still available for information and advice, don't be afraid to get in touch with any questions. Don't worry if your child is not feeling motivated to work through all the work that is set. From my own experience, it can be very overwhelming for them. The important thing is that we look after their emotional well-being in this difficult time. So I have attached a booklet that gives some advice and suggests possible resources that you could use at home to engage in Mathematics with your child. A little Maths each day would be a huge victory! Stay safe. F McCue, PT Maths Click to access the Parent's guide. This booklet offers a detailed list of resources and web links that are split into primary and secondary and differentiated by level. There are websites listed in each section and each is hyperlinked. The key thing is that they are all free to use; some for the moment in response to the crisis, others permanently so. This is not an exhaustive list as there are loads of great resources out there but it is a great starting point! |
