Save the date - Scottish Education Exhibition The school received this message this week and wanted to share with everyone. I’m excited to let you know about plans to host a free, virtual Scottish Education Exhibition in September for senior phase pupils across Scotland who are considering their pathways to further and higher education. The event will take place on Thursday 9 September from 10am – 7pm and we hope schools will set aside time on this day for pupils to attend. The Scottish Education Exhibition is being hosted by 14 Scottish universities, three colleges, SDS and SAAS. It will give senior phase pupils the chance to chat to representatives from each of the institutions, view information and videos, download prospectuses and join live webinars covering subjects including:
We appreciate that it’s difficult to make decisions about further study when there’s still uncertainty around open days and large-scale events. The Scottish Education Exhibition is being designed with pupils in mind to provide them with everything they need to make the right decisions and their next steps. How to book Pupils will need to book their own space at the event but the registration process will be simple and straightforward. We’ll share details as soon as the booking opens but please put the date in your diary. We're pleased to announce dates for our new series of UCAS virtual exhibitions this autumn, designed to help students focus their research within their chosen subject area.
Our new online exhibitions mean students can explore courses at lots of universities and colleges all around the UK. You will have the chance to speak directly to key subject specialists, teaching staff and admissions experts, listen to topical seminars and ask questions, and pick up digital prospectus’ and other information. We'll be launching more virtual exhibitions for 2021 soon – keep an eye out for information. UCAS applications 2021
Please note that the pupil information on the UCAS page has been updated and now contains information relevant to this year, If you are thinking about applying to university for 2021 please note that some university open days are happening online and starting to take place this month. The University of Glasgow's open day will take place on 23rd June online. "You will be able to access presentations, online materials, participate in live web chats with staff and students and reach out to our team, should you have any questions about any aspect of study at Glasgow." Similar formats will likely be used by other universities should they host open days online. All the dates have been collated for you by Mrs Cooper and can be viewed here. There will be an information evening for S6 students and parents on Monday 3rd September at 6.30pm in the School Assembly Hall. All S6 students are encouraged to attend. Following the invitation letter which parents received last week, we can now confirm the programme for this evenings careers and options night. It is open to all our student in S2-S5. Below you will find the list of over thirty businesses/organisations who will be in attendance, and all are eager to meet our young people and discuss their options for future careers. We hope to see as many of our students and parents as possible this evening. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any queries.
UCAS information evening for students and parents will be held on Monday 28 August 6.30pm in the school assembly hall. This evening will explain the UCAS process with talks from Dr Speirs of Edinburgh University as well as former students who have successfully secured university places for a variety of courses. University Open days are available on the calendar within the pupils section of the UCAS page.
