Covid-19 has hit Ntenjera in the same way it has here. Schools have been shut and like us they are trying to work out how to get education back up and running. Unlike us however, they have next to no resources to fall back on. Distance learning is impossible without electricity so getting pupils back in the classroom is a must.
Classrooms for Malawi have launched and fundraiser to provide a hand-washing station in every classroom they work with throughout Malawi, Ntenjera is included. A Marr Malawi channel has been set up as part of the overall campaign with the hope of raising £500. The overall goal is £7000 and they are already over half way to meeting their target. If you would like to contribute to this fundraiser, you can do so below: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/marr-malawi-wand It would be much appreciated and a nice way to end a very difficult year, knowing we’ve helped one of the world’s poorest communities tackle this pandemic. UCAS applications 2021
Please note that the pupil information on the UCAS page has been updated and now contains information relevant to this year, If you are thinking about applying to university for 2021 please note that some university open days are happening online and starting to take place this month. The University of Glasgow's open day will take place on 23rd June online. "You will be able to access presentations, online materials, participate in live web chats with staff and students and reach out to our team, should you have any questions about any aspect of study at Glasgow." Similar formats will likely be used by other universities should they host open days online. All the dates have been collated for you by Mrs Cooper and can be viewed here. Monday 15 June should have been opening night for Marr Musical Theatre's 'High School Musical'. Instead, everyone is still in "lockdown", no Wildcat banners decorate the Assembly Hall, and our S6 students are no longer able to perform in their final school production. Cue School Captain Olivia Burnham rounding everyone up in her inimitable style, producing a Twitter-friendly video to showcase some of the talent and exuberance we would have been enjoying on stage tonight until Wednesday. Director Ms Gunn said: "Huge thanks to Olivia for organising and editing the video - and thank you to the cast members who got involved and met Olivia's exacting deadlines. True leadership in lockdown - thank you."
