Marr Chess Club in partnership with Troon Chess Club.
Marr College has developed strong links with Troon Chess Club – with Clive Baird from Troon Chess kindly running an annual tournament and providing the handsome trophy for the winner. We are also delighted to secure the support of local expert Bob Reid, who is with us every Friday at Marr and is providing fantastic hints and tips to develop our young people’s skills. Chess Club runs every Friday lunchtime in Room 118 (Science Corridor). All students are welcome – if you have never played chess before, come along and learn in a friendly, fun and supportive environment. The parent council will meet this Wednesday 6th Dec in the meeting room at 7pm. Full details including minutes of previous meetings can be found on the parent council page.
Last week was Book Week Scotland and some of our S2 pupils joined in the celebrations. The theme this year was 'nourish' and our librarian, Miss Owens, asked pupils to share information about a book that means a lot to them, a book that has nourished them over time. Below you can read a selection of their responses, you might even get an idea for a present for Christmas! They then had some fun re-creating book titles with a food theme. Continue reading for a giggle at some of these.
