Ayr Academy hosted the Institute of Physics “Girls into Physics and Engineering” day just before the February break. It is now an established annual event which showcases the possible career paths through studying physics, and promotes gender equality in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects. Marr College is always well represented on the day with maximum student attendance, and this year the available places were snapped up quicker than ever.
Lyndsay Frew (S3) reports on the day:
“The Girls into Physics day was a great experience. It really opened my eyes to what career paths I could take by doing Physics. It was a great day going round different stations and seeing what opportunities are available to me in the future. I would totally recommend going to the day. It is a really good help if you are not sure what career you want to do in future.”
