Amy Ballantyne, (new) 3F, Reports:
I was recently involved in the Girls into Physics day which was held in the school. It involved S2 and S3 girls from different schools being taken around workshops and learning about different careers involving Physics.
Some of the speakers worked with satellites, military defence, nuclear physics and food production. In the workshops we got to do experiments which were fun. For example, in our first workshop we did an experiment where we looked at the viscosity of treacle, syrup and honey, in another one we did an experiment where we put on a pair of 3D glasses and looked at a partner and shut one eye then one of their lenses blacked out.
Overall I think the Girls into Physics day was a really good experience and it made me more aware of the opportunities available for people taking Physics and has helped me get an idea of what kind of career I would like to have.
Huge thanks go to Miss Firth for putting together such a successful and worthwhile event.
